Look of the Day: Fall Fashions for Your Feet

Every season, new trends explode onto the runway but sadly not too often into my little closet. Why? Well, I just don’t have the disposable income to allow for a new wardrobe every season and thus I usually act out on trends via my ears, my neck, my arms, and most especially my feet!

1. Bold + Bright

{ Comfortable in Color a la Nine West}

One of the latest trends for fall is bright, almost fluorescent pops of color — most especially fun + flirty yellow. This chipper old hue is a carry over from this spring, and while I am ready to put away my mini’s and shorts, I am not ready to completely delve into the darker colors of Autumn — I still need some sunshine. And I have a feeling I may not be alone in my sentiments, and that may be why this color seems to be linger luxuriously on the runway just a little longer still.

2. Lovely Lace

{ Pure Sex a la Pour la Victoire }

There is nothing sexier than lace, and ladies, lace has been absolutely overwhelming the runways with sex for several seasons now. I first recall Stella McCartney bringing lace back in a big way, and while I respect Stella immensely {largely because I have an undying affection for her father}, I personally doubt I would ever wear one of her head to toe lace dresses. However, these all lace, all the time shoes make me feel incredibly feminine. I love every inch of this four-foot, peek-a-boo lace heel.

3. Gold + Glitter

{ Sequin Glory a la Coach }

Sequins seem to have taken up permanent residence in women’s, and thus the runways, heart. Who doesn’t love to sparkle, glimmer, glow? Who doesn’t like to make a statement? Granted, a statement shoe like this may not really be an everyday, 9 to 5, working-woman shoe. But after hours, when the Hendricks starts pouring and the lights dim low, it is perfectly all right to let your tootsies shine.

4. Bewitching Ballerinas

{ Daisy Ballet Flats a la Capezio }

Ballet hit the runway several season ago and just never left. And you will not hear me complaining. Every since my youth, I have been captivated by ballet. Over the years I may have forgotten how to do my ‘fouettes en pointe’ or my ‘grand jetes’, but there is still a bit of the ballerina in me and coincidentally on me. These ballet flats are especially darling with these lovely little daisy print on the inside of the shoe. And the strap now comes attached upon delivery, there is no more need to sit and stitch the elastic on. Simple, classic, comfortable and stylish. Audrey H. would love these. So do I.

5. Patterns + Fur

{ Leaping + Lounging Slippers a la MukLuks }

Yes, these are slippers. Slippers with leaping deer on them. Yes. And although leaping deer are not a pattern currently adorning the runway, patterns large and small are. As is fur. So, after a long, hard day at the office, I absolutely cannot wait to slip into these comfy and fashionably fabulous slippers.

Polka-Perfect Party

I was recently given the honor of co-hosting {x8} a dear friends’ shower. And since it was my first duty as Matron of Honor, I knew I needed to both impress and be able to move and mingle. Not only did we need to feed almost 100 people, but the event was outside at a summer camp where we were battling mother nature {and I was even warned to beware of bears!}. This my friends was no small event.

This dress fit the ticket. It was light, airy, and perfect no matter the task …

… whether I was serving cake …

… force feeding delicious Italian cuisine down everyone’s throats …

… or playing with the sweetest little baby on the planet.

Even Frankie had a terrific time!

White-Collar Worker

I recently started a new job. And to be honest the hardest aspect of my job change has been trying to figure out the new dress code.

Dress code = business casual

Business casual = the most obsure definition on the planet

I have been trying to gauge looks based on others, but I have been confronted with suits versus jeans/dirty t’s. Not to mention I sit in front of a screen 99.3% of my day and rarely interract with someone face-to-face. It is the digital, modern world people … meetings are held over the computer or phone … so how do you dress for a phone conference?

MON: dress pants, simple white top, green tank, yellow flats

TUES: dress pants, t-shirt, black wrap, B&W flats

WEDS: grey wrap cardi, dress pants, sparkle sandles

THURS: printed dress, black leggings, black cardi, yellow flats

FRI: dress-down jeans, yellow tank, grey sweater, yellow flats

Honestly, the only day I truly felt like myself was on Friday. And I think you can even see that fact in my face. In addition, I realize that I need to purchase new flats and accept that my badge ruins any look.

So, my dear friends in cyberspace, I leave this up to you … pass or fail on the business casual attire?
