Friday Fashion Break: Maje Fall Fashion Lookbook

Friday Fashion Break: Maje Fall Fashion Lookbook

Over the past several weeks I have heard gentle rumblings about this French line called Maje. And although I ordinarily lean towards more loud and boisterous designs, I must say I absolutely love every single piece of this entire collection. I love the quiet sophistication, and the astounding possibilities. These clothes are all so completely and absolutely interchangeable with each other, and could honestly be in fashion for my grandchildren’s grandchildren. I guess that really is just a part of the French fashion flair. And I guess I might need to consider investing in a few of these key pieces. I don’t know about you, but my first purchase would be that amazing red mini dress with those epic bell sleeves. Lust, love, need.

#30 {30 Before 30}: Travel Overseas, Somewhere, Anywhere

#30 {30 Before 30}: Travel OverseasI have it on good authority that you all have missed me tons and tons on my petite abscence, yes? You did, didn’t you? Yes? Good, good! You see pally-pals, I was off vacationing – that may not have  taken me to fair Paris or jolly old England – but did happen to take to take me to several ports of foreign locale, namely Belize, Mexico and Honduras. And out of all the fabulous things I did while abroad, one of my favorites was getting a chance to chill with some new friends – some very friendly and welcoming Honduran monkeys. Now, although I was only able to secure a stamp in my passport from the American customs officials {customs is very stingy with their stamping!}, I have nonetheless officially completed another item in my 30 Before 30 list! Seven items down, twenty-three to go!

Krista’s ‘Pandalicious’ Beauty Bin: Clean + Clear with Clarisonic Cleansing System

Krista GundersenFellow beauty addicts – if you have ever stepped foot in a Sephora store, you have probably heard of the Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System, which comes to us from the makers of the Sonicare toothbrush.  Basically, it’s a similar device intended to deep clean your skin.

FROM CLARISONIC.COM: Sonic skin cleansing improves skin tone, reduces the appearance of pore size and helps skin care products work their best. The Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth skin. In just 60 seconds, the micro-massage action removes 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone. Removing more dirt and oil from your pores also helps products work more effectively.

Friday Fashion Break (Take 2): DKNY | NYFW Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear

I know what you are thinking … ‘two posts in one day! Where does this dame find the time?’ Well, I was just so into the latest runway fashions that I had to share one more. However, I am doing this post un poquito different, because in DKNY’s latest collection there are truly truly truly some pieces I love {the hats most especially!} … and then some I uber hate {the loud, unwearable, unchic, vomit-inducing patterns – yes, I hate them}.

Friday Fashion Break {Take 1}: Christian Siriano Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear

New York Fashion Week – which, little tidbit, actually spans about 10 days and happens twice a year – is one of my most favorite bi-annual times of year to gather inspiration. As a graphic designer, I truly feel that fashion and art and photography are all interconnected and I normally see the hot new design or hot new color from the runway in some way, eventually get translated into my little graphic design world. Especially since attending a show live, I find myself pouring over the – now extremely well photographed/filmed and no longer closed/stuffy  - shows for weeks and weeks after.  One of my favorites of this season was Christian Siriano, probably because he is totally flirting with feathers and feathers are the new in thing in Carolland. I just wanna shake my tail feathers {yeah, I said it} in some of these sexy, textured pieces.

Krista’s ‘Pandalicious’ Beauty Bin: Judging Julep

Krista GundersenA few months ago, I reviewed the beauty sample subscription service, Birchbox.  I’ve been a subscriber for over 6 months now, and with the exception of my August box, I’ve been really pleased with the deluxe beauty samples I’ve received.

However, there’s a new beauty subscription service from Seattle-based nail salon Julep that might give Birchbox a run for its money – at least with nail polishaholics.  The Julep Maven program costs $20 per month, but they were offering a promotional code to receive your introductory box for only $9.99.  I initially signed up after being lured in by the promotional code and the contents of their introductory box, with a retail value of $60 (confirmed by browsing their website and doing the math), but I subscribed with the intention of “probably” canceling after that.
