And in order to celebrate we took him to ‘The Hungry Hound’ Puppy Bakery. Penny, the owner, was so accommodating and welcoming. She was happy to welcome both Frank and my camera into her store. Plus, she went through each and every cookie before we brought them home to make sure we were nut-free (I am allergic; Frank is not – and since he, like all pugs, tend to slobber we can’t feed nuts to the pug).

Frank – and to be honest even I, myself – was astonished by all the amazing, homemade, organic doggie goodies! And the store was so clean … which has not always been my experience with dog-friendly zones.

In the end, we couldn’t pick just one treat … so we bought Frankers a bunch. The first of which was this cinnamon-yogurt ice cream cone cookie. And judging by the fact that this WHOLE cookie was gone in TWO minutes, I think he must have enjoyed it!

Oh, hellooooo Frank!

I feel your pain, dear Frank. But don’t worry my dearest little pal, … it will be Friday again soon. And with it a weekend full of love & cuddles!

DISCLAIMER: Warning, in order to be completely honest, this post perhaps should be called ‘How not to make …’ I had quite a bit of trouble with these so-called simple little suckers. Normally, my husband is around to assist when I attempt to make myself at home in his kitchen but for this recipe I was alone. I was told by the recipe – and the friend who gave it to me – that this was ‘easy’. Turns out – not easy for Carolann. Messy, messy, messy … but yummy scrumboes. And if you read this at least you will learn from my mistakes.

STEP 1: Normally the recipe calls for 1 box of oreo cookies and 1 stick of cream cheese. I was a little ambitious and wanted to make two sets of truffles:

•  one mint oreo truffle with a chocolate coating
•  one ‘doublestuf heads or tails’ oreo truffle with a white chocolate coating

I think this is where my problem started – I tried to cut the recipe in half and I used doublestuf. I think I had too much cream. Plus, I have never used a food processor before and I tend to make a mess at the best of times …

STEP2: Mix, mix, mix. Please note … the dough should feel oily but not sticky. If it is sticky then you do not have enough oreos in the mix. I found this out when I was unable to roll the oreo mixture into balls and the mess it the kitchen doubled exponentially.

STEP 3: After the oreos are all rolled into balls, you are supposed to dip them in melted chocolate. I was not able to figure out a way to do this. So, I simply spooned chocolate onto them. The truffles did not look super gorgeous but they were still good to eat. Warning: do not put the melting chocolate in the microwave for more than 1 minute – it will burn terribly and stink even worse. Trust me, stinko-o! I added some chocolate chips to the top of the truffles – this was a big hit with my guests and those chip-covered truffles disappeared first.

Step 4: Put the truffles on a wax paper-covered cookie sheet, and chill for at least an hour. This is the one step I excelled at. Once all your guests are full of turkey, and stuffing, and cranberry sauce and about ready to pop pop pop … then is the time to take out the truffles. Everyone will say ‘Oh, I can fit one, they are so small after all.’ You will be an immediate hit, and your guests will – I believe – manage to find room for more than just one! PS> do not share these truffles with your little Frank. Although those sweet little eyes will be begging you for some truffles – cut up a carrot instead!
